I’ve been playing guitar a lot more than I usually do. Actually, I don’t think I’ve played guitar this much since I was a teenager. A majority of my playing lately has revolved around practicing to improve my technique. My ultimate goal is that I’ll be more fluent across the fretboard so that when I’m writing music it takes less time to get what I hear in my head to actually come out of the guitar.
As a byproduct of the practicing I’ve been learning a lot of songs. For the most part, any cover song that I learn I’ll record it. This not only helps me learn how to play the song but also keeps me brushed up on my mixing skills. At least one of those songs will be released this coming Saturday. Going forward I also plan to release backing tracks for the songs that I’m covering so that anyone else that’s learning the song can have a track to play along with.
I think I might have finally found what will be my main guitar. I recently purchased a Charvel Pro-Mod So Cal and I plan to write a review of it soon. While I was initially extremely disappointed in the condition it arrived to me in, I’ve now gotten it set up and it plays and sounds exactly the way I’d always thought a guitar should. I’ve got around 13 guitars and it’s the only one I’ve been playing since I got it.
